Nationals Report: March 26th: Junior Minors 2 - Metro Fighting Moose 1
The Junior Minors never gave up as they defeated a stunned Metro Fighting Moose team this morning at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA.It was a hard-fought game, and the Metro Fighting Moose were up 1-0 at the end of the 1st period. In the second period, Jeremy Eiland (Becker, Charron) scored, and the period ended with a 1-1 tie. The third period started with both teams determined to get a win. The score remained 1-1 until 15:33 into the period, when the Eagles were on the penalty kill. At that moment, George Boukas picked up the puck from a Moose player at the point, then raced down the ice. Before the Moose could catch up, Boukas scored an unassisted short-handed goal, putting the Eagles on top 2-1. It was a nail-biter at the end, as the Eagles once again went on the penalty kill with 31 seconds remaining in the game. The Moose pulled their goalie, creating a 6 on 4 situation - but to no avail. The Eagles won 2-1.The ECE Junior Minor Eagles played some amazing defense, and Stewart Wise was incredible in goal, as he faced 38 shots from the Moose. The Eagles knew going into the game that they could win, and played with the heart and determination needed to defeat the Moose Select (Major) team. Way to go Eagles!!!Next up, a game tomorrow morning at 9:40EDT against the 1 ranked Mass Maple Leafs. List to the game here, and follow the Box Score on the Pointcast site.
