ECE Minors Lost 5-3...But Aren’t Out Of It Yet!

They lost their first game, but they aren’t out of it yet. They have two more games before they’ll know if they get to keep playing for the National Championship.
Nationals Report: March 25th: Charleston Wolverines 5 - Junior Minors 32008-03-25
The Junior Minors first game was a heartbreaker as they took to the National’s ice today at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA.
The Charleston Wolverines are an older (average team age is 1989), larger team and came out ready to play. In contrast, it took the Junior Minors, who are the youngest team at Nationals, the first two periods to get warmed up. After ending the first period down 3-0, they fell behind at the end of the second period, 5-0. In the third period, the audience finally saw the Junior Minors we have watched all season. They came roaring back in with 18 shots on goal. Starting with an unassisted goal, Josh Stingley got the Junior Minors on the Scoreboard. At 12:23, Greg Walton scored (Murray, Giancarlo), and then scored again at 16:08 (Steffans). The Junior Minors held the Wolverines to 8 shots in that last period. In the end, though, there was not enough time to catch up. The Junior Minors were defeated by the Wolverines, 5-3.
With the experience of this first game behind them, the Junior Minors are looking forward to Wednesday’s game against Metro Fighting Moose. They know now that they can hold their own and outplay almost anyone at Nationals!
