I followed my friend Emily's blogs to this site, kansascityisinmissouri.com and, since I am from KC, MO, I wanted to share a few things with you.

***Recent studies have shown that 94.3% of Americans believe that Kansas City is a city located in the state of Kansas. We can certainly understand how this misunderstanding could occur. Frequently Asked Questions
Here at KansasCityIsInMissouri.com, we receive several e-mails with geographically-oriented questions. We have assembled this list of commonly asked questions or "FAQs" to help educate the public.

Isn't there also a Kansas City, Kansas?

Ha! Oh, poor uneducated e-mail writer. This is a common urban legend. But no, there is no Kansas City, Kansas. Stop being silly.

Aren't towns like Overland Park, Olathe and Shawnee vital to the Kansas City Metro?

Of course! Without such vital suburbs as the ones you mentioned, there would be significantly fewer Olive Gardens, Pottery Barns and Old Navies. No one can underestimate the value of these contributions.

Are there any simple clues to help me know if I'm in Kansas rather than Missouri?

Absolutely! Here is a simple test you can perform to find out what state you are in. Ask a friendly citizen about their thoughts on evolution. If you are met with hostility and bible verses, chances are you're in Kansas!

Aren't websites like this only serving to divide the populace of a metropolitan area separated only by a nominal state border?

Whatever.

Do you think this is funny? You're a dick.

Thanks for writing! It is true that Missouri boasts vast quantities of naturally occurring limestone and is rated 6th in the nation for hog production.
