Solas Bouncers Trample Christmas Spirits
Written By: A Survivor

In a time of recession, the gift of a company Christmas party is a gift most will not be receiving this year. Due to cut backs, unfortunately, fun natured gatherings are one for the first items on the budget chopping block. Thankfully, my company has been blessed and our company Christmas party was saved. The office was abuzz with excitement and chatter of who's wearing what and who's bringing whom. The party was to take place at Solas Restaurant and Nightclub - a new trendy little spot on Glenwood South decked with bright white umbrellas and a soft glow of blue light. Most of our group had never been to this establishment but had already picked up on the hype that having our party at this new place of sophistication was going to be a treat. Unfortunately, these high spirits were trampled by the meathead Solas bouncers - along with our coworker's fiancé…..

Yes, that is right. A five foot tall, petite blonde, who had spent her night chatting party goers up about her upcoming wedding was trampled by a handful of Solas bouncers. This occurred when the after party of our Christmas party hosted at Solas turned into a lynching comparable to scenes I've only seen in the movies. Who was being lynched? My coworker, that little bride to be's fiancé. She was crying and scuffed up lying on the sidewalk horrified as one Solas bouncer punched her fiancé as he was helplessly held and supported by other bouncers so that he could get FOUR good punches in before they handed him over to a police officer. How did our little after party end this way? Let's discuss…

Apparently, Solas being new in town has yet to work out the kinks of how to host an upscale event. They may pride themselves with being the new hip place for Raleigh's elitists, but they are not ready to handle hosting private events such as a company Christmas party. Upon arrival our coordinator and the staff was extremely helpful and professional. The ice sculpture of three falling snowflakes made a beautiful center piece to the appealing spread of tasty dishes. Drinks were poured, toasts were given, prizes handed out, people were dancing, and everyone seemed to let go of all the stresses of deadlines. The party was running along just lovely until we started to look around and noticed that some unknown guests had joined our party. It was not made aware to us that at 10 PM our cozy little private party would be flooded with the Saturday night club scene. Though our party and open bar had ended, our desire to linger and dance did not. We felt comfortable with staying at Solas for an after party. If it's not broke don't fix it, right. Little did we know there was trouble just over the horizon.

Along with the night club patrons came bouncers. These bouncers were not present during our party, but as soon as the general public were admitted the bouncers ascended on the club floor like a fleet of Blackhawk helicopters. Looking much more like a swat team than bouncers, it was clear they were ready to handle a small riot OR any highly dangerous, nicely dressed gentlemen who had a glass on the dance floor. If you haven't been to Solas heed my words, "NO GLASS ON THE DANCE FLOOR"!!! This is a sin punishable by extreme measures. Though there are signs on the wall, this rule was not strictly enforced while our Christmas party was in full swing. So as my coworker made his way to the dance floor to dance with his fiancé with a drink in his hand the bouncer brigade had him in their sights and the "take-down" mission was put into motion.
The highly dangerous interior designer had a glass in his hand that was obviously going to be used as a weapon or quite possibly an attempt to shatter the glass dance floor below. By any means, he was obviously up to no good and a direct threat to security. Obviously! (Very strong sarcasm should be noted here!) This gave the bouncers cause to place said designer, let's call him Chuck, in a headlock and accuse him of assaulting the bouncer that addressed him on the dance floor. In just a blink of an eye one bouncer became four. Chuck was forced into a submissive position on the floor covering his head with eyes wide with fear. He was pulled off the ground just to be violently thrown back down to the ground, his face smashed into the floor, man-handled down the stairs by the excited mob of bouncers, and smashed against the wall in the stairwell. All the while his hysterically crying fiancé followed at safe distance behind with supportive friends. Witnesses reported that they "opened the door with his face", when they so gently escorted him outside to the sidewalk. The sidewalk scene was just a violent as the scene inside the club, if not worse.

While waiting for the police to arrive to arrest the violent, assaulting, glass-toting offender, one bouncer decided there was enough time to tighten up his fist, hold Chuck in place so he could get in FOUR more punches to Chuck's head and face. A handful of Solas bouncers rushed to pull this rogue bouncer off of Chuck, but not before trampling Chuck's emotionally fragile fiancé on the sidewalk. The big fisted bouncer was provided a clean get away by the Solas staff before any questioning could be conducted by police. Final word was that Chuck had assaulted the bouncer and he was placed under police custody. Chuck was at least rescued from his beating and was relieved to be in the hands of the law instead of the vigilante Solas bouncers.

What happened to his fiancé? While still crying and laying on the sidewalk she was verbally accosted by the Solas bouncers who spoke to her like trash on the sidewalk as club goers were lined up for entry watching and listening to my friend get verbally abused. The bouncers, proud of their actions began to Hi-fived eachother. She inquired sobbingly as to how they could trample a five foot tall female and be proud of themselves. The mob leader/doorman in his long black trench coat informed her with a smirk on his face that her size wasn't an issue because her kind, aka "the small ones" are "always the worst for running their mouths". This verbal accosting ensued until management finally made an appearance and offered only his card and an apology. The manager was informed of the events and unpleasantries of the evening and that they should work on ironing out the kinks of hosting a private event at their establishment to prevent such occurrences. He had coats retrieved and encouraged everyone to send their complaints to the email address listed on his card so someone could get back to them. This was not the attention expected from a manager who's staff had just trampled a female bystander; or that of a manager that just received a very large check for hosting such an event and in danger of losing any type of positive referral.

Though apologetic, the manager appeared to have no control over the situation and the bouncers/doormen received no reprimand. It was almost as if the bouncers were a gang of hired thugs that took over the establishment at dusk, cocky in the fact that no one could touch them including their own management. They transformed an upscale restaurant into a den for VIP party goers unaware that they may be the prey for the pack of testosterone-driven Bouncers.
This was not the only issue we had with hosting our event at Solas. There were other accounts of excessive force to other members of our party, extra charges from bartenders allowing drinks not included on the approved list, charge for the lovely ice sculpture that was supposed to be included, not allowing our group to retreat to the private third floor balcony once they started admitting club patrons, etc. The list could go on! Honestly, all other details aside, the most disturbing event was the one I describe for you above. Something is just not right when you are fearful for your safety when visiting an establishment due to the very staff that is hired and trained to protect you. If you do decide that this hyped-up trendy, South Beach meets Raleigh joint is still the place you need to be, please remember one thing…"NO GLASS ON THE DANCE FLOOR"!!!!

As for me, the bump on my head, and bruise on my arm…I'll be staying far, far away from Solas!! Those white umbrellas and glowing blue lights will not entice this downtowner any longer. The hype is over and I invite you all to join my Solas boycott!

You're A ....Republican?!?
Apparently many are finding it shocking that I am republican. I guess it is shocking that a girl that grew up on a single mother's low income, who recieved healthcare from medicaid, was feed by food stamps and stood in line for government cheese, and sent to college on a vocational rehabilitation scholarship turns out republican. Not to be one that talks about politics alot or even likes to, I felt obliged to try and clear this up for a few of you that have sent me messages lately. Mostly due to my outstanding Halloween costume! heh, heh

My republican exposure came post-college in the field I work in and my regional area (aka The South). I work with engineers and architects. Engineers are mostly republican minded and architecture are probably 60% republican but 40% extremely liberally. Those are Sarah stats and cannot be confirmed one way or another. LOL That's where the exposure came from.

I mostly feel that I have worked very hard for my money and to make a living and I would like to keep it and not be forced to spread it around. I agree that there are great government programs out there that need support, but give me enough credit to know that for myself and decide to donate my money according to the programs I value and wish to support. I value government assistance. Government programs fed me, gave me healthcare, and helped me go to college. I think under democratic rule more government programs end up suffering more than being helped cuz people think...I don't have to give or do anything personally cuz the government is taking care of it for me. And when too many not functioning programs get funded it spreads the money so thin that good ones suffer. I could donate more if I wasn't being taxed to death or if the economy wasn't struggling so badly. We need alternative fuel, but I also need to stop pressing my luck driving around with my gas light on till my next pay check. We need a rescue plan now with off-shore drilling AND a future plan for utilizing alternative fuels.

War..I think it sucks, but I am a believer of to those who much it given much is expected. America is a stronger country than most and our neighbors need our help. If the world is ran by terrorists it won't matter what fuel you use or if we should or should not bail out Wall Street and it definitely won't be a place I want to bring a child into. I support the troops and pray every night that they return safely home from their honorable missions.

I obviously lean republican due to plans and taxes and not so much on social issues. I think most of the social issues are decided more today in the judicial system unfortunately. They interpret the law and they become precedence for all future cases. Not saying it isn't important that our leader be line with my social ideas, but with all the checks and balances with the senate and congress nobody can get that out of hand any way.

I want my President to represent me on taxes, healthcare, and foreign affairs. My social life is my own and government should stay out of it as much as possible. They MUST be patriotic and love their country and have respect for all Americans. If I feel a Democrat is in-line more with those things than the Republican candidate than I am not oppose to crossing the line. It just seems that more often than not I side more with the republican platform overall.

I'm not really hard-core into politics. I just listened to all the debates and convention speeches. I just do what I feel is right or makes sense to me. If I'm wrong...Thank God for democracy and your power to out vote me!

Friendship is an in-depth relationship. Friends are comfortable and relaxed. Friendship requires meeting the needs of both friends. It is an in-depth relationship combining trust, support, communication, loyalty, understanding, empathy, and intimacy.

If You Forget Me
by Pablo Neruda

If You Forget Me
I want you to know
one thing.
You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.
Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.
If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.
If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.
But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine.

New Living Will

I,Sarah Kay Lee, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means. Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of pinhead partisan politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their lives depended on it or lawyers/doctors/hospitals interested in simply running up the bills.

If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at least one of the following:

______a Martini ______a Margarita ____ __ a Scotch and soda ______a Bloody Mary ______a Gin and Tonic _______a Glass of Chardonnay ______a Steak ______Lobster or crab legs _____The remote control ______a bowl of ice cream ______The sports page _____Chocolate or ______Sex

It should be presumed that I won't ever get any better. When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel in the tubes and call it a day. At this point, it is time to call the New Orleans Jazz Funeral Band to come do their thing at my funeral, and ask all of my friends to raise their glasses to toast the good times we have had.

NOTE: I also hear that in Ireland they have a Nursing Home with a Pub. The patients are happier and they have a lot more visitors. Some of them don't even need embalming when their time comes. If anyone knows the name of this happy place PLEASE pass it on!

O.K. this is the last time I try to talk sports with my husband. He definitely said that I should die my hair blonder. What-Ev! So here was my thought:

Right now the Boston Red Sox are playing the Toronto Blue Jays. We, of course, are cheering on the Sox. During the game I had a thought. The Blue Jays are in Canada. I’m not sure that is right. I mean. Isn’t baseball an American past time? So why is there a Canadian baseball team? Shouldn’t all the States have a chance to have a team before we start outsourcing our baseball to other countries? Like, what about Hawaii? I’m sure they’d like a team.

I know they like sports cuz they have college sports. They even host the Hawaii Bowl Game for college football. And they have to fly to play other college teams. So it doesn’t seem like travel would be that hard to figure out. They don’t even have a neighboring state with a professional team to root for. They are all alone. I think they should get a team before Canada. I know people would go see the game, cuz its fun and exciting and new. I mean if you get to see all the beautiful beach and scenery all the time I’m sure it gets boring and who couldn’t go for some sports!

So I think the Blue Jays should be sent to Hawaii. Then Alaska should have a chance at a team too. For the same reasons. Then let other countries have a team….I guess. Even though, like I said, it’s an American Pastime.

Don’t get me wrong. I think Canadians are great. We even have Canadian friends, so I am not prejudice against Canadians. I think they add a higher level of competition to our hockey. The competitive hockey did originate there. So I agree in letting them be a part of our Hockey league. It’s their specialty. They grew up on frozen ponds and shit. It would be boring for them to just have an American Hockey league and a Canadian Hockey league. Plus their talent gets spread around through the players to all the teams. The value of participating in Hockey with them is great. It makes sense. I don’t see that as the same thing with the baseball. Have you ever heard anyone super excited cuz they just drafted a really great Canadian baseball player? Cuz let’s face it. How often are those boys saying "fuck hockey, I’m going to devote all my time to play baseball on this frozen pond instead" I mean, really. It doesn’t happen. I don’t think they would mind giving their baseball team to Hawaii. I say, just give them another hockey team and call it even.

I can’t understand why Mike has such a problem with my rational deduction? Do you?

Nationals Report: March 27th: Junior Minors 4 - Mass Maple Leafs 4

Head Coach Paul Hinrichs and Asst. Coach Mike Lee with the USA Hockey Sportsmanship Award

The Junior Minors, still rallying from their win against the Metro Fighting Moose yesterday, played their very best hockey of the year this morning at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA. With the Mass. Maple Leafs average age of 20 (1988), and a 1 National ranking in Junior C hockey, the Junior Minors knew they had a daunting task ahead of them.
The goal of the EC Junior Minors was to play a strong defensive game, keeping the score low. The Maple Leafs scored first with a power play goal in the first period. Three minutes later, while on another penalty kill, Greg Walton scored a short-handed goal after being set up by Josh Stingley. The first period ended 1-1.In the second period, the Maples Leafs once again scored first. At 5:32, John Murray (Walton) scored, tying the game 2-2. Later in the period, Jeremy Eiland snuck a pass from behind the net, and Michael Mason had a huge goal, to put the Junior Minors in the lead, 3-2. The third period started with the EC Eagles Junior Minor fans going wild in stands. The arena was packed with people, as spectators had come over from other games to watch. The Maple Leafs took the ice with their arms pumping to get themselves fired up. However, the Junior Minors were more than ready. The Junior Minors had a great opportunity when they received a 5 minute power play (created when Michael Mason was tackled mid-ice by a Maple Leaf player). Storm Tremont quickly scored unassisted, and the Eagles were ahead 4-2. The Eagles took a penalty during the 5 minute power play, creating a 4 on 4 situation which the Maples Leafs took advantage of - bringing the score to 4-3. With 5 minutes remaining, the Maple Leafs tied the game 4-4 while on the power play. The third period ended with the 4-4 tie, and the game went into overtime. The OT period was five minutes long, and the score remained tied with 1:20 left when the Maple Leafs took a penalty (once again Michael Mason was knocked flat). The Junior Minors were unable to take advantage, the game remained 4-4 at the end of OT. Stewart Wise faces 34 shots in 65 minutes of play, and the entire team played an excellent, very defensive game - as was their goal. After the game, the team was presented with the USA Hockey Sportsmanship Award - an award given to a single team in the tournament that exemplifies the best Sportsmanship. The award is very meaningful to the East Coast Eagles, as they are an organization that strives for Sportsmanship at such a high level all year.In the end, the Junior Minors finished their season with this game. It was an amazing game and a great performance by our young, inaugural Junior Minor team. They may be young in age, but they showed their grit and determination during this past week. As they begin their long trip home to Raleigh, everyone in the East Coast Eagles organization, as well as all the parents and supporters, are extremely PROUD of this talented team! Way to go, Junior Minors!!

The score remained 1-1 until 15:33 into the period, when the Eagles were on the penalty kill. At that moment, George Boukas picked up the puck from a Moose player at the point, then raced down the ice. NC STATE ICE HOCKEY ANNOUNCES JUNIOR AFFILIATE!
The NC State Ice hockey club is pleased to announce the addition of the East Coast Eagles Junior Team as the Wolfpack’s first ever Junior affiliate. Based out of Raleigh, the ECE have become a very successful southern Junior program. Many Eagle alumni have gone on to compete at the collegiate and Junior A level.
Look for NC State to schedule a game or two against the East Coast Eagles soon. This will give ECE players the opportunity to see what it takes to play at the college level, and give NCSU coaching staff a chance to see up and coming talent. Recruits will also have the opportunity to tour NCSU campus with current players and ask questions about what the school has to offer on and off the ice.
NC State hockey Vice President, Wes White, commented "We are excited to have the ECE organization as an affiliate. There is a lot of young talent up and coming from the Eagles Junior program. Our coaching staff looks forward to the recruiting advantage. Scrimmages between our clubs will give coaches a first-hand look at great players."

They lost their first game, but they aren’t out of it yet. They have two more games before they’ll know if they get to keep playing for the National Championship.
Nationals Report: March 25th: Charleston Wolverines 5 - Junior Minors 32008-03-25
The Junior Minors first game was a heartbreaker as they took to the National’s ice today at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA.
The Charleston Wolverines are an older (average team age is 1989), larger team and came out ready to play. In contrast, it took the Junior Minors, who are the youngest team at Nationals, the first two periods to get warmed up. After ending the first period down 3-0, they fell behind at the end of the second period, 5-0. In the third period, the audience finally saw the Junior Minors we have watched all season. They came roaring back in with 18 shots on goal. Starting with an unassisted goal, Josh Stingley got the Junior Minors on the Scoreboard. At 12:23, Greg Walton scored (Murray, Giancarlo), and then scored again at 16:08 (Steffans). The Junior Minors held the Wolverines to 8 shots in that last period. In the end, though, there was not enough time to catch up. The Junior Minors were defeated by the Wolverines, 5-3.
With the experience of this first game behind them, the Junior Minors are looking forward to Wednesday’s game against Metro Fighting Moose. They know now that they can hold their own and outplay almost anyone at Nationals!
The full box score can be found here.Remember that you can follow the game tomorrow LIVE with the Eagles Broadcast (audio) from here.

Junior Minors Win CHA Championship!2008-03-16

The Junior Minors have been ranked in First Place all season in the CHA. This weekend, after winning the Championship in the 2008 CHA Junior Minor Playoffs, they sealed their destiny and are going to the USA Junior Hockey Nationals! Playing four games in three days (including the Championship Game), the East Coast Eagles Junior Minors faced their first real "test" of the season - they had to work very hard to come back from a loss and prove their First Place position was deserved.

In the end, the Junior Minors proved themselves to be one of the top Junior Minor teams in the country. Coach Paul Hinrichs has been quick to point out all season, "Every single kid on the Junior Minors has contributed to our success." He truly believes that the hard work, focus, and determination by each and every member of this team was crucial in reaching Nationals.

Friday, March 14th vs. Binghamton Senators: 9-2
The Junior Minors arrived Friday ready to play at the Blade Runner Ice Complex. Their energy was focused on beating the Binghamton Senators, and they easily handled the game. Patrick Becker and Michael Mason had 5 points each (each 2G, 3A); other goals by Storm Tremont, Jeremy Eiland, Jeremy Bost, Josh Stingley, and Greg Walton helped seal the win. Stewart Wise faced 30 shots, while the Eagles offense peppered the Senators’ goalies with 43 shots.

Saturday, March 15th vs. Buffalo Stars: 4-3
The Eagles were handed their only defeat of the weekend (and their third defeat of the entire season) on Saturday morning. In a close fought, back-and-forth battle, goals were scored by Jeremy Eiland, Vinnie D’Andrea, and Storm Tremont. In the end, despite the Eagles generating 43 shots on goal, the Buffalo Stars won by a single point. As they left the ice, the Junior Minors were hoping they would have one more chance to face the Stars - in their minds, the battle was not over. As it turned out, they would face them in the Championship.

Saturday, March 15th vs. Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins: 9-3
The Junior Penguins took the ice and faced the wrath of the Junior Minors, who were still smarting from their loss earlier in the day. Storm Tremont had 4 goals in the second period; Jeremy Eiland had 2 Goals and 4 Assists; and other goals were scored by Kyle Charron, Vinnie D’Andrea, and Kellen Kromm. As always when playing the Junior Penguins, it was a very physical game. However, the focus and determination of the Junior Minors helped them dominate this game.

Sunday, March 16th: The Championship Game

Junior Minors vs. Buffalo Stars: 8-4
In the hardest fought game of the weekend, the Junior Minors played with both physical strength and a lot of heart. While ending the First Period with a 4-1 lead (goals by Murray, Steffan, Becker, and Eiland), the Eagles knew the last two periods would be a challenge. The Buffalo Stars had shown what they were made of a day earlier, and they would not go down without a fight. In the early 3rd period, the game was tied 4-4. It was a physical game, with many penalties on both sides. However, George Boukas used his well-known speed to score a short-handed goal, and Kyle Charron followed three minutes later with a power-play goal. Greg Walton sealed the game by exploding at the end with two goals (including one short-handed).

Following the game, the Junior Minors were presented with the Championship Trophy.Congratulations to Jeremy Eiland who received the Tournament MVP award, as well as the Dave Tyler award (presented to a player who best demonstrates good sportsmanship and commitment to the game).

On a Personal Note...The Junior Minors dedicated their Championship Game this weekend to player Matt Wrightson, who was unable to travel with the team. Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt and the entire Wrightson family, as Matt’s father, Doug, recovers from his accident.

Monday, March 24, 2008

i started this faith journey at Harmony Heights Baptist Church, Indep. MO. i was around 14 yrs. old and decided to attend a small little Baptist church. there i was "saved" and baptised a Christian. my next spiritual connection was at the LDS church that offered such love and a sense of family. they showed me how to live out that Baptismal commitment, how to stand up for my beliefs, how to not be afraid of being different, and to always chose the right. but i always longed for a spiritual "home". something that felt comfortable, that fit me, that was completely in-lne with my beliefs and how i felt inside. i then met my husband and his family and they showed me that home.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a program in the Catholic church to become Catholic. i have been in RCIA for almost three years and this Easter i exited that program. I recieved Confirmation and my First Communion. I am overwhelmed with joy, peace, and happiness. I want it to last and last. i know that work with start tomorrow and my life will go back to normal. i’ll have trials, sickness, bad days, i’ll sin again...but i know that through God’s grace and his sacraments I’ll be able to return to this feeling again and again. and i know one day it won’t go away and i’ll have it everlasting and that is pretty awesome!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me! Mostly Thank You to my loving husband. I look forward to creating a strong Catholic family of our own one day.

Hope you all had a blessed Easter! Peace Be With You!

I followed my friend Emily's blogs to this site, kansascityisinmissouri.com and, since I am from KC, MO, I wanted to share a few things with you.

***Recent studies have shown that 94.3% of Americans believe that Kansas City is a city located in the state of Kansas. We can certainly understand how this misunderstanding could occur. Here at kansascityisinmissouri.com, it is our mission to inform the world that Kansas City, is in fact in the state of Missouri.***

Frequently Asked Questions
Here at KansasCityIsInMissouri.com, we receive several e-mails with geographically-oriented questions. We have assembled this list of commonly asked questions or "FAQs" to help educate the public.

Isn't there also a Kansas City, Kansas?

Ha! Oh, poor uneducated e-mail writer. This is a common urban legend. But no, there is no Kansas City, Kansas. Stop being silly.

Aren't towns like Overland Park, Olathe and Shawnee vital to the Kansas City Metro?

Of course! Without such vital suburbs as the ones you mentioned, there would be significantly fewer Olive Gardens, Pottery Barns and Old Navies. No one can underestimate the value of these contributions.

Are there any simple clues to help me know if I'm in Kansas rather than Missouri?

Absolutely! Here is a simple test you can perform to find out what state you are in. Ask a friendly citizen about their thoughts on evolution. If you are met with hostility and bible verses, chances are you're in Kansas!

Aren't websites like this only serving to divide the populace of a metropolitan area separated only by a nominal state border?

Whatever.

Do you think this is funny? You're a dick.

Thanks for writing! It is true that Missouri boasts vast quantities of naturally occurring limestone and is rated 6th in the nation for hog production.

This is a very sad time for me. I'm trying my best to deal with this loss; to pick up the pieces and move ahead. You just get attached to someone and you never think that one day they may move on. I feel so abandoned. It's hard to imagine him being loved by another as much as he was loved here. Will they laugh with you like we did? Will they appreciate your charm like we did? Images of you haunt me...the way your hair was so fluffy, the way you rocked those aviators, the way you looked in your bath robe. I don't blame you...it's not you....I know you don't really want to leave. How could this happen? We had such a good thing going. I know every time I go to the RBC center for a game I'll look for you...but you won't be there. I know I have to be strong and give this new guy a chance, but I don't want to. It will take time for me to open up to another. Don't forget us and the time we shared!
We'll miss you Commie! Good Luck!

"Win as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change."
well the patriots lost. i'm surprised but damn if the giants didn't play a good game. i guess you can't win'em all...even though they almost went completely undefeated. giants win, i can accept that respectfully.
what i will not tolerate so easily is the "poser" giants fans gloating. if you didn't root for them in regular season and you're leaving "what, what" comments on myspace...you're dumb. don't be dumb. try picking a super bowl bound team before kick off next year. my personal fave team is the KC Chiefs, but my "football team in-law" are the Pats! just the same as my real "in-laws"; they aren't blood, but i love'em just the same. lol :) so stupid Pats-bashing comments by poser Giants fans need not apply. True Giants fans, have your day, you earned it!

Thanks to everyone who has tried to check up on me in one way or another. I experienced an acute attack of my liver disorder. It happens. I'm home from the hospital, recovering well, and will back to the work grind tomorrow.

In life there's lots to think about, but nothing to worry about.

Raleigh was supposed to have a "snow storm" this weekend. We got rain, frozen rain, flurries, and actual snow for a couple of hours. Whooo Hooo! Mike and I planned to hunker down at home together by the fire and watch the snow come down all weekend. What a let down!

I remember getting out of school in Missouri for snow. Spending the whole day making igloos and having snow ball fights with the Gage boys. Going sledding in the park with Linda till our toes were frozen solid. How I miss those times and the snow.

At least we got precipitation of some sort. We need it with our extreme drought conditions. Snow in Raleigh...it was a nice thought!
