I am not one to follow hard and fast fashion rules or any for that matter such as the prohibition against wearing white after Labor Day.  However, certain styles simply do work best during the Summer months and look out of place if worn into September.  That being said, I do support any reason to throw a party.  Never have I ever, heard of throwing a white party for Labor Day BUT I love the idea!  Why not poke a little lady-like fun at such rules?  If I remember...I will totally be throwing one next year.  Here are fun ideas to get your creative juices flowing in case you feel like throwing a "White On Labor Day" soiree.
Or Forgo the Party and Just Have DRINKS
You can't go wrong with a drink that has the word "white" right in it's title like White Wine or upgrade that to a White Wine Margarita.   Want to send summer off right?  Why not one last frozen drink like a Coconut Banana Cooler?  This post "Labor Day White Party Drink Recipes" over at Holidays Central is packed full of yummy white drink recipes perfect for a white-out celebration.  Or you can always take the labor out of Labor Day and go for a ready-to-serve cocktail like a Skinnygirl® White Cranberry Cosmo.

1.  "Oh Sweet Lorraine"

"Oh Sweet Lorraine" is a song written by Fred Stobaugh, a 96 year old man, for his late wife.  He entered an online song contest put on by the music studio Green Shoe by sending in his entry via regular mail in a large manila envelope.  Mr. Stobaugh's song did not win the contest but did win over the heart of Green Shoe's Jacob Colgan.

"I started to read the lyrics and was so touched by the song and without even meeting Fred we thought, we're going to do something," Colgan said.

With Mr. Stobaugh's permission Green Shoe brought the lyrics scribbled in a heartfelt letter to life.  The video below tells the story by Fred Stobaugh himself along with Jacob Colgan of Green Shoe music studio.  So touching; a heart-warming, tear jerking tribute to a 73 year long marriage of love.

2.  Football Nails

The 2013 NFL regular season starts September 5th with a Thursday night game between the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos.  We love some football in this household and I love being festive.  In celebration of the return of football and more importantly football parties I am loving the idea of Football Nails.

Here is a cute tutorial from Jen over at Polish and Pearls
on how to Do It Yourself:

3.  Skinnygirl MOSCATO

I love to have a bottle of Moscato around for impromptu girlie time.  Why not just any wine?  Well, I have found that even those who don't typically care for wine still love a glass of a simply sweet Moscato.  It is sweet, fruity and delicate.  Best stated by Skinnygirl on their site, "You can take our Moscato wine anywhere, from a laid-back picnic to a formal affair. She’s elegant and classy, while still down-to-earth -- just how we like it!"  It helps that Skinnygirl Moscato is only 100 calories for a 5 oz glass.

So sip and gossip chat away! ;)

"Life is too short
& childhood too fleeting
to not get out the paint."
-Mom

Tip: Use a fitted sheet over your dinning table for instant arts&crafts station. It's fun to use fabric markers to decorate your fitted sheet to inspire your little artist(s).

This sheet was the hospital bed sheet from Mason's surgery.  The nurse gave us markers and we colored on the sheet to distract him before he was taken back to the OR. Every time we get it out we decorate more on it with fabric markers.  Can't wait to see what artistic touches Emerson will add to it when she's bigger.
I hope one day to fill up the whole entire sheet.

Who's Getting Excited for
Cooler Weather? ...This girl!

1.  Coffee Cozy
What's one more item to add to your bag or car clutter, especially when it is this cute?!?  Here's a way to be "green" and cute at the same time.  Forget those cardboard throw away sleeves to put on your coffee and re-use your own super adorable one.

Here is one I made from an old sock! That's right folks, double green points for a up-cycling and cutting down waste. Just cut the bottom foot section off and use the leg and cuff part (see instructional photo below).  I took some of the extra part and made it into a bow and sewed it on with a junk drawer button for an added handmade feel.

2.   Trench+Scarf+Boots
Fall isn't fall without a classic trench, designer scarf and fashionable boots.  Here are my crushes.  Now who's going to buy them for me? ;)

BURBERRY SHORT TECHNICAL COTTON TRENCH COAT

KENZO Spotted Lightning Bolt Print Scarf

Vintage 70's Brown Leather Lace Up Boots

Cold weather equals static hair. I have fine hair.  I have fine hair which I like to also color because I don't want to face the fact that my hair is more light brown than the blonde color it once was.  Those things don't go well together.  I know I need to use product to help my hair's health and keep it from being a static mess, but they always weight it down.  I can't afford to weigh down my already super flat flock. Then I found this stuff. It smells good and now that there is a "light" for fine light-colored hair. Ding, ding, ding...perfect. I use it all year round, but it really pulls its weight when the temperature go downwards.

What does it do:
• Detangles • Restores elasticity • Revitalizes hair

Fun Fact: Moroccan oil comes from Argan trees that only grow in Morocco, Africa. These trees have been treasured for years and they have even been worshiped long ago.

----------------------------------------------------------------
So do you get paid to recommend this stuff?
Nope. Not at all. I have never been approached to feature any of my Friday Fave products nor have I ever received any compensation/kick-back for doing so.
If I were doing a product review or getting paid I would tell you.

Sometimes you can't make it to a Starbucks.  At 120 cal a serving this is my sweet treat whenever this SAHM needs a mini escape.  Yes, I know. I have have a Starbucks cup to drink it in.  Whatever gets ya through right?! Ha ha  It says you can just drink chilled but I think it is better over ice for some reason.
