Hello week 17! I sure hope you take it easy on me. I recently had a horrible bout with the morning sickness. It was not fun. Looks like I'm not one of the lucky ones that has the sickness completely go away after the first trimester. Dang! lol
I have my friend Becca's bachelorette party coming up this weekend. I can't drink but I still plan on having a good time. Making the cake this week. Yum! But I'm going to get lots of rest and sleep to prepare. ;)

Monkey Update:
This week might mark the first time you feel baby move inside you, but don't worry if it's another two months before you notice anything. Baby's now the size of an onion! Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

Mike and I just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary Sept. 17th. We went to the Cincinnati Reds baseball game. We had a really good time! :)

Mike and I do not know the sex of our baby yet, but there is no doubt that our child will have hockey in their life in one form or another due to Mike's obsession....ahemm...I mean passion. ;)

This story has been out for awhile and you may have already seen it but even if you have it's important and bears repeating....

It's never too early to get kids involved in Hockey. So don't wait, act now and get them into...

PRE-NATAL HOCKEY CAMP
"We have couples who haven't even conceived yet who are putting down deposits to get on the waiting list. With all of the money in the pro game, can you blame them?"

At his Pre-Natal hockey school, O'Heffernan puts the unborn children through all of the paces.
"Just because they're not born yet, that doesn't mean we baby them. Hockey's a hard, gruelling game. The sooner they learn that, the better off they'll be in the long run."

Drills at the school include motivational yelling at the mothers' stomachs, in-class instructional sessions on modern defensive systems, as well as tutorials on effective forechecking techniques in the ultrasound room.

"The modern game is so complicated, it's imperative that we teach them as soon as possible. If you wait to educate them on the complexities of the left-wing lock after they've been born, they won't be able to grasp all of it, even when they're 18.
And what do the parents who've enrolled say about the program?
This is way more useful than those stupid lamaze classes
...Nigel and Yolanda Bicklethwaite of Etobicoke said that they enrolled at the O'Heffernan Pre-Natal hockey school out of a desire for their forthcoming baby boy to experience life to its fullest...

"And if that kid doesn't make it to the NHL, he's out of the f@#king will.
Yes, as you've probably figured out by now this story is just a joke. HOWEVER, the way things are headed in our society as far as fast-tracking kids goes nowdays maybe we'll actually see something like Pre-Natal Hockey soon.

It wouldn't surprise me... at all.

Hockey Quote for the Day:

"This is the only thing that has seen more parties than us."
Steven Tyler, Aerosmith's lead singer, after admiring the Stanley Cup.

I've been finding out that more people than you think already have names picked out and ready for whenever they have a baby. Wow. Though Monkey is a cute name... lol... we have been trying to make a list of names. Here is a list of names that we have been throwing around. This is just a snapshot. The list changes all the time! Some names hit the cutting room floor after landing a spot just hours later. Our plan is to narrow it down to three strong girl and boy names (just in case) and pick one after meeting our baby face to face.

If you have any ideas let me hear them. Remember our last name is Lee. So names like Emily Lee kinda sound like you have a stuttering problem. Side note we love Irish names. If its "your" name and you just want to share, let me know so we don't swipe it. ;)

Girl Names (in no certain order)
Vivian ** Stella ** Hannah ** Reaghan ** Meghan ** Audrey ** Savannah ** Sydney ** Eva ** Abigail ** Aubrey ** Tegan ** Aniston **

Boy Names (in no certain order)
Keegan ** Mason ** Carter ** Ryder ** Parker ** Preston ** Braxton ** Austin ** Conor **

Not alot of changes to report from last week. Just for fun, Mike and I took one of those in-home IntelliGender - Gender Prediction Tests this morning. If it turns greenish gray that means boy and orange or no change means girl. Mike thought it was green right off the bat. Of course! I'm not sure. Went to the http://www.intelligender.com/pages.php?pageid=13 website for examples of results and it just confused me more. I sent pictures to the support email and they are gonna get back to me on their reading of it. Who knows. I guess maybe we'll see week 20 when we get the next ultrasound. Here's a picture of my test above. What do you think the test says? Boy or Girl?

Monkey Update:
Baby's now the size of an avocado!Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

(UPDATE: The company emailed me promptly within an hour to discuss it with me. They also thought it looked like boy.)

(Another Update: Our baby was in fact a beautiful baby BOY! I would say the product worked for us.)

So I'm 15 weeks now. New things to deal with seem to be headaches, blurred vision, and dizziness. These are new. Its not all the time but annoying enough. The sickness comes and goes but seems to stay gone for longer periods of time. I've got more energy now. I just picked up a little part time job at a Salon & Spa in Kenwood. It seems that I feel better when I do things. I'm tired of sitting around the house. I hope working won't be too much. I think part time was the right moved to make. This way I have something to do, make a little cash, and still can make it to my many doctor apts.

Our friends Laura and Stephen came in to visit this Labor weekend. We are going to watch the WEBN fireworks tonight. I'm pretty excited. They brought us gifts from Raleigh. Our friends Tyler and Jacque got us the cutest plush monkey and onesies with matching bibs and hats. Very cute! They have little monkeys on some of them. Laura and Stephen hooked us up with a kick ass baby Hurricanes jersey! Boy or Girl they are gonna be hooked up. Thanks guys!

Monkey Update:
Baby's now the size of a naval orange!Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.

I am very excited to be 14 weeks. The sickness is getting better. It takes alot of attention, resting, and eating to stay feeling well but I'm doing it. I did have to get an IV to help with some issues with my liver disorder (hereditary copro porphyria), but Monkey tolerated the treatment very well. Being high risk has come with more doctors apts. than someone with a "normal" pregnancy, but this is my first and I don't know anything different so for me this is a "normal" pregnancy. ;) I hope we get another ultrasound soon. I really wanna see Monkey again. I'll be sure to keep you updated. For now, Momma and Monkey are doing well!
Baby's now the size of a lemon!Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.
