You're A ....Republican?!?
Apparently many are finding it shocking that I am republican. I guess it is shocking that a girl that grew up on a single mother's low income, who recieved healthcare from medicaid, was feed by food stamps and stood in line for government cheese, and sent to college on a vocational rehabilitation scholarship turns out republican. Not to be one that talks about politics alot or even likes to, I felt obliged to try and clear this up for a few of you that have sent me messages lately. Mostly due to my outstanding Halloween costume! heh, heh

My republican exposure came post-college in the field I work in and my regional area (aka The South). I work with engineers and architects. Engineers are mostly republican minded and architecture are probably 60% republican but 40% extremely liberally. Those are Sarah stats and cannot be confirmed one way or another. LOL That's where the exposure came from.

I mostly feel that I have worked very hard for my money and to make a living and I would like to keep it and not be forced to spread it around. I agree that there are great government programs out there that need support, but give me enough credit to know that for myself and decide to donate my money according to the programs I value and wish to support. I value government assistance. Government programs fed me, gave me healthcare, and helped me go to college. I think under democratic rule more government programs end up suffering more than being helped cuz people think...I don't have to give or do anything personally cuz the government is taking care of it for me. And when too many not functioning programs get funded it spreads the money so thin that good ones suffer. I could donate more if I wasn't being taxed to death or if the economy wasn't struggling so badly. We need alternative fuel, but I also need to stop pressing my luck driving around with my gas light on till my next pay check. We need a rescue plan now with off-shore drilling AND a future plan for utilizing alternative fuels.

War..I think it sucks, but I am a believer of to those who much it given much is expected. America is a stronger country than most and our neighbors need our help. If the world is ran by terrorists it won't matter what fuel you use or if we should or should not bail out Wall Street and it definitely won't be a place I want to bring a child into. I support the troops and pray every night that they return safely home from their honorable missions.

I obviously lean republican due to plans and taxes and not so much on social issues. I think most of the social issues are decided more today in the judicial system unfortunately. They interpret the law and they become precedence for all future cases. Not saying it isn't important that our leader be line with my social ideas, but with all the checks and balances with the senate and congress nobody can get that out of hand any way.

I want my President to represent me on taxes, healthcare, and foreign affairs. My social life is my own and government should stay out of it as much as possible. They MUST be patriotic and love their country and have respect for all Americans. If I feel a Democrat is in-line more with those things than the Republican candidate than I am not oppose to crossing the line. It just seems that more often than not I side more with the republican platform overall.

I'm not really hard-core into politics. I just listened to all the debates and convention speeches. I just do what I feel is right or makes sense to me. If I'm wrong...Thank God for democracy and your power to out vote me!
